¾ cup butter
3 eggs
2 ½ cups flour
2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 ¾ cups sugar
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
1 ¼ cups milk
- Pre-heat oven to 375°
- Grease and flour two 8” or 9” round or 9” x 13” cake pan(s).
- In a bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beater butter with an electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds. Gradually add sugar, beating until well combined. Beat for 2 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Add flour mixture and milk, beating on low speed after each addition
- Spread batter into prepared pans dividing batter equally.
- Two 8” round pans: bake for 30-35 minutes
- Two 9” round pans: bake for 20-25 minutes
- One 9’ x 13” pan: bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Cool cake for exactly 10 minutes on a wire rack.
- Remove layers from pans and cool completely before frosting.
- Place bottom layer on a plate. Frost only the top. Set the second cake round on top carefully. Cover top and sides with frosting.
