Cinnamon Raisin

2 cups flourbiscuits
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup shortening
½ cup raisins
¾ cup milk
1 Tablespoon butter melted
1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 Tablespoon of sugar mixed together in a small dish.

  1. Preheat Oven to 425°
  2. Measure flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and sugar into bowl.
  3. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender.
  4. Stir in the raisins and the milk.
  5. Round up the dough and knead lightly 8 times on a floured pastry cloth.
  6. Roll with floured rolling pin until ½” thick.
  7. Cut with a floured biscuit cutter and place on ungreased baking sheet.
  8. Bake 10- 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. When still hot, brush tops with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.

 

Makes about 8 large or 20 mini biscuits.
