Student Assistants

Library Assistants
Each year the library staff depends upon the help of student assistants to operate the library and provide services to teachers and students.  Student assistants work under the
supervision of the library staff and are taught many of the routine tasks involved in the operation of the library and audiovisual areas.  Student assistants learn how to use various reference tools (such as the automated catalog and online indexes and databases) to locate a variety of materials in the collection.  They assist with automated circulation of materials, photocopy requests, shelving books and magazines, delivering and  picking up equipment, cleaning equipment, checking attendance of students coming to the library and assisting other students and teachers with basic requests.  Elective credit (1/2 credit per year) may be earned for this work.  If you are interested in being a student library assistant please contact Mrs. Jerome, Mr. Goddard or Mrs. Kirkpatrick.

“The First 5” Morning Announcements Crew
A number of students work in the BHS Studio under the supervision of the librarian to produce and broadcast the live morning announcements each day and to produce and edit video clips about Brunswick High School activities for broadcast on morning announcements.  These students also videotape a variety of school projects and activities.  Community service hours may be earned for this work.  If you are interested in working on “The First 5” crew please contact Mrs. Jerome.

Video Volunteers
The library staff trains a number of students each year in the use of digital video camcorders available in the library.  These students volunteer their time during study halls or after school to videotape classroom activities, athletic events, drama and speech events, special assemblies, guest speakers, and other school activities.  If you are interested in serving as a video volunteer, please contact Mrs. Jerome.
