Services from Teachers

Providing a good library program is certainly a two-way street.  There are a few ways in which you can help the library staff serve you and your students more effectively.

  • Keep the library staff informed of materials needed to support and enhance your teaching.  Provide suggestions for materials that should be purchased for the library collection.

  • Notify the library staff of upcoming and ongoing library assignments.  Let the library staff know in advance of assignments requiring use of the library so that the first students who arrive don’t check out all of the materials on a particular topic.

  • When planning a library-related assignment check first with the librarian to make certain enough supporting materials are available.

  • Keep the librarian informed of upcoming changes in your curriculum.

  • Volunteer some time to review the library collection in your subject area and make suggestions of materials that should be discarded.
