Van Gogh Pumpkin Patches

First graders studied Starry Night carefully, and noticed the movement in Van Gogh’s brush strokes, the way he captured the wind, and the colors he chose to represent the sky.  They made their own pictures of a night sky, using his as inspiration, and added a field of pumpkins below. They learned the difference between a sculpture and a painting, and also that Van Gogh didn’t like this painting, the only one he ever did of a night scene. We all disagree, and think it’s a masterpiece!
