Georgia O’Keeffe Inspired Projects

First graders had a lot of fun creating these larger-than-life flowers.  Georgia O’Keeffe was an American artist who loved to make her paintings so big and up-close that it forced the viewer to look at the subject in a new way.  We practiced drawing flowers so big, that they were “falling off” the paper. Mrs. Sciacca and Ms. Monahan’s classes used a mixture of glue and tempera paint and chalk to create their flowers; Mrs. Shea, Ms. Dunn, and Mr. Funderburk’s classes made their own textured paper to create poppies, and Mrs. Fish and Mrs. Martin’s classes focused more on the Southwest style of Mrs. O’Keeffe.
