Pink Pig Portraits

The color of the day today was pink! Kindergartners revisited the famous story of The Three Little Pigs with this art lesson.  They were asked to look closely at the pigs in the illustrations, and I asked them things like, “what shape is their snout?  What about the shape of their body? Are they wearing clothes? What mood are they in, and how can we tell?”

We then discussed portraits. Does a portrait have to be a human? Why don’t all portraits look the same? How can we make portraits look different?

Students worked really hard to give each pig a unique personality and expression!
