Opus One Big Band to Perform in Brunswick

The Opus One Big Band will perform a concert to benefit the Brunswick High School music program on Saturday, November 12th.  Dessert and coffee will be served in the Brunswick High School cafeteria at 6 pm, followed by the concert in Crooker Theater at 7 pm.  The evening will also feature a performance by the Brunswick High School Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Mike Scarpone.  Advance tickets are available at both Hannaford and Shaw’s supermarkets in Brunswick.  Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.   Adults may also purchase chances to win a 32 GB iPad or a 32 GB iPod touch at a drawing to be held at the concert.

The Opus One Big Band is comprised of professional Maine musicians who support Maine music programs by performing benefit concerts throughout the state.  The band has been playing for over twenty years and has performed for church concert series, music booster fundraisers, and other charitable events.  The band is currently under the direction of Dale Perkins and includes music educators and performers from across the state.  The Brunswick concert will feature big band and jazz music by artists such as Glen Miller, John Coltrane, Wes Montgomery, and Duke Ellington.
