BJH Bands Preparing for Annual Halloween Parade!

The BJHS Band (grades 6, 7 & 8) will be marching in this year’s Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31. This is an annual event sponsored by the Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department. The parade begins at 4:30 p.m. on the Lower Mall, Maine Street. The parade route is relatively short through downtown Brunswick and should last about 20 minutes.

Band students will stay after school. After a short combined rehearsal, we will march from the Junior High to the Mall on Maine St. Following the parade (about 5:00) all BJH Band students will return to the school by bus. For the safety of the students, ALL band members must return to school on the busses at the end of the parade. Please be at the Junior High at 5:15 to pick up your musician.

Student friends and family members should plan on finding a spot along the parade route to cheer on the band. They will NOT be allowed to walk with the band in the parade! We do ask parents who want to “march” to sign-up as an “official” chaperone. We need at least 10 parents to help…and the more, the merrier!

In case of bad weather, the Recreation Department will cancel the parade. Please check the BJH Band website for updates throughout the day.

Because of the number of students involved in Band (over 150!), it is important for me to know if your child will or will not be participating in the parade. This will impact preparation, transportation, and the number of chaperones needed. Participation slips were due today (Friday, Oct. 14). Need a slip? You can download one HERE.
