October 6 – Day 1

6 1/2
1.  Continue Oil Pastels:  use imagination to transform random lines, show symmetry and gradation, multiple drawings connect seamlessly, neatness counts, work collaboratively.  QUESTION: can we finish by the end of class tomorrow, or will we need one more day next week?

7-3
1.  Decision Day!  Choose which 10 photographs to submit for this project.  Sort through all the photos in your album using the criteria on the rubric to help you make your choices.  Remove the unwanted photos from your album, leaving behind your 10 best.  Make sure your album is titled with your name (first and last).
2.  Fill out the rubric – FRONT and BACK.  You must describe in detail which photograph to print out for display.  Turn rubric in.
3.  Check for Snapseed app – tell me if your iPad has it or doesn’t have it.
4.  Skill Sheets if time allows.

8-6
1.  Turn in selfies with contour lines for grading (if you didn’t finish yesterday).
2.  Roll out clay slabs:

a.   Wedge clay on canvas mat
b.   Begin pulling motion while wedging to start to flatten (hold down mat)
c.   Use rolling pin to flatten slab evenly from center out (use 2 pencils on either side to guide thickness)
d.    Lay selfie on top of slab, use ruler as a guide along edges, and cut out clay slab with an unbent paperclip
e.   Flip slab onto manila paper, picking it up by the canvas mat (DO NOT PICK UP THE CLAY SLAB DIRECTLY), transfer to board
f.    Bring scraps of clay to Ms. Bucknam, who will give you enough extra clay to make a second slab.  Be sure to wedge your clay thoroughly!
