Woodstock

The counter culture

Woodstock was a music festival build as “3 Days of Peace & Music” in August
of 1969.

Woodstock was held on a farmer’s land and was attended by over 500,00 people.

Jimi Hendrix played Message of Love & Foxy Lady among other songs at the festival gaining him public recognition as one of the great performers of his era.

According to Newsweek Magazine, In the mind of the general public the festivals provided clear evidence of the threat posed by a radical youth movement. It was not just their political rhetoric, nor the widespread use of drugs; it was the sheer weight of numbers.

Satchidananda Saraswati addressed the Woodstock crowd.
