The Road Writing Response (pgs. 1-75)

Passage #1.   A diesel truck pulls up with a band of men standing in the steakbed, some of them holding rifles.

Passage #2.  I should have done it a long time ago.  When there were
three bullets in the gun instead of two….I’ve taken a new lover.

Passage #3.  The boy kept pulling at his coat.  Papa?  He whispered.
What is wrong with the man?  Can’t we help him?  Papa?
      No.  We can’t help him.­

Passage #4.  …A picture of his wife.  He spread everything out on the blacktop.  Like gambling cards.  He pitched the sweatblakened piece of leather into the woods and sat
holding the photograph.

Passage #5.  And nothing bad is going to happen to us.
