PART 1 GRAMMAR 25 POINTS
You will be required to know the basic rules of punctuation, subject/verb agreement and sentence types emphasized in the grammar mastery program. You will not be tested over parts of speech and clauses/phrases which were featured on the mid year exam.
You will be allowed to use a nine-by-eleven piece of paper with your grammar notes on one side only. No other material related to the final exam will appear on these notes or
you shall receive a 0 for the exam.
PART 2 SHORT STORY 25 POINTS
You will read The Lottery (unabridged) by Shirley Jackson and you will be required to answer questions relative to Freytag’s Pyramid and the short story vocabulary emphasized throughout the second semester. You will have a copy of The Lottery to use during the exam.
PART 3 ESSAY 50 POINTS
You will write a five-paragraph expository essay focusing on the principle controversies in the short story The Lotery. Be sure to review the format for writing an expository essay in respect to a story.
