This week we wrap up our Paper Helicopter Labs and lab reports and begin our Life Cycle of a Seed Plant Unit.

Wednesday- Life Cycle of a Seed Plant Pre-Assessment and introduction to the Plant Kingdom. Intro to Dissecting a Dicot Seed Lab and connection to Paper Helicopters.

Friday- Continuation of Life Cycle of a Seed Plant.

Monday- Paper Helicopter Lab Report write up.
Tuesday– Complete Lab Report and design paper helicopter with a longer hang time compared to the helicopter from the lab.
Wednesday- Students compete with their paper helicopter to determine the student that designed the helicopter with the longest hang time.
Thursday- Complete hang time competition and begin the next experiment and lab report: The Effect of Weight on a Paper Helicopter’s landing in a consistent spot.
Friday- Continue Weight and Paper Helicopter’s Landing lab.

We will be starting an Engineering mini-unit of study the end of this week, “Flight as related to a Maple Tree Seed”. The Flight unit will be an introduction into The Lifecycle of a Seed Plant Unit and our return to Aquaponics.

This week is the start of Quarter 3! Report cards will go home this Friday. Students continue their work with Cells and Microscopes.
Students will be working on a lab all week, where they will be preparing various slides and observing what they see with the use of a Compound Microscope. They will be viewing Plant and Animal Cells.
Monday- Plant and Animal Cells (and Letter e Lab) review.

Wednesday- Onion Cell Lab.
Thursday- Elodea Leaves and Salt Water Lab.
