Science class Fri. 9/11

We took care of some laptop details (signing in to Google Classroom, bookmarking my science portaportal, adding printers to the laptops).
We also played an observation game, then moved on to describe more about the metric system, its prefixes, and what they stand for.

HW: No HW.

Science class Wed. 9/9

We defined qualitative and quantitative observations, and came up with examples.  Students discussed some “tricky ones” and defended their reasoning.
Then we reviewed a bit about quantitative measurements by practicing with tape measures.

HW: Corrected “Science Class Procedures” sheet due tomorrow

Science class Thurs. 9/3

Students practiced their observation and diagramming skills with an activity involving a beaker, a liquid and some solids.  We discussed and practiced how to turn a diagram’s rough draft into a final copy.

HW: No HW

Science class Wed. 9/3

Today we completed our tour of important things in the room, then focused on the Most Important Science Skill, observing.  We used some optical illusions and video clips to focus on important things to remember when observing.
We finished class with a short chat about good and not-so-good group work behaviors.

HW: Science Class Procedures sheet due tomorrow.

Science class Tues. 9/2

Welcome to the first day of science class!

We took a tour of the room, learned the rules of the class, thought a little bit about what science is, and met our first lab groups.

HW: Science Class Procedures sheet due Thurs.
