Welcome to FLY, Foreign Language for Youth, the volunteer program that brings world languages to the elementary students of Brunswick. Our goal is to offer the  opportunity to explore at least one foreign language. Languages that have been offered in the past include French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, or Swedish.

WHERE: Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School

WHEN: once a week from 3:10 until 4:15 for 10-12 weeks starting in January. The FLY program follows the Brunswick School Department School Calendar and if school or after school activities are cancelled, so is class. FLY ends its edition with Celebration Night sometime in April.

WHO: Third, Fourth and Fifth graders. Because space is limited to 12 students per class (unless noted), we ask that you and your child be committed to attending the classes. If you must cancel at any time, please let the instructor  or coordinator know so that the spot may be filled by someone on the waiting list.

Transportation is your responsibility and there is no bus service available. Please be courteous to our teachers, volunteers and students by respecting class starting and ending times.

Since F.L.Y. is a volunteer program donations of $20 are encouraged and appreciated. This money is used to buy supplies and materials for the classes. You may send the donation with your registration or pay the teacher at the first class. Checks are to be made out to Brunswick School Department/FLY Program and be mailed to Brunswick Junior High School (care of Tatiana Lera), 65 Columbia Avenue, Brunswick, ME 04011.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns please contact Tatiana Lera, FLY Coordinator, at tlera@brunswick.k12.me.us
