TGI Thursday! Morning Announcements!

Good  morning all, this was a short week for the students. Today’s announcements are up and they have a lot of information concerning the SAT’s, be sure to listen carefully.

Good morning!  Today is Thursday, October 6th.  It is an orange day and you’re watching “The First Five”.

Attention all students for these general announcements.

Student volunteers are needed at the School Flu Clinic on Saturday, October 15th from 8am-3pm. Earn community service hours.  Please see Mrs. Mitchell in the nurse’s office to sign up. Picture retake day has been changed from Thursday, October 13th to Tuesday, October 11th.  If you did not like your picture, or if you did not have a picture taken at the beginning of the year, please have your picture taken on October 11th.

Here’s the Dragon Special offered today in the cafeteria.

Representatives from the following colleges will be at BHS next week to meet with interested students.  Get a pass to attend in the counseling office.

Today’s announcements for BHS clubs and activities include the following.

Book Club will meet today after school in the library classroom to discuss Where She Went.

The Outing Club will meet this afternoon at 2:20 in room 230 to discuss plans for camping in Baxter State Park.  Permission slips and camping fees are due by Tuesday, October 11th.  Please return these to Mrs. Kirk or Mrs. Loyd ASAP.

The World History Club will meet today after school in Mr. Hart’s room.  New members are welcome!

The cast of “Tom Jones” is reminded that the first rehearsal for the rabble and crowd characters, along with everyone in Act One, will be held on Tuesday, October 11th, after school.  New rehearsal schedules will be given out at that time.

In today’s Dragon Report…

Yesterday the girls’ JV orange soccer team tied Oceanside JV 2 to 2.   Goals were scored by Charlotte Cooney and Alicia Davis.

Freshmen

You are reminded that on October 12th you will be participating in a variety of career pathways activities.  You will be dismissed from your period 7/8 class at 11:05.  At 11:40 you will report to your assigned classroom on the first floor.  Check ahead of time to find the correct location.  If you have questions ask a teacher or check with the counseling office, the main office or the library.

Sophomores and Juniors

You are reminded that the PSAT will be given on Wednesday, October 12th.  Make sure you come prepared with sharpened #2 pencils and an approved calculator.  Cell phones are not allowed during testing.  Students will be dismissed for lunch at 10:40 and will report to testing at 11:05.  Students who attend a morning vocational program will be dismissed from Region 10 at 10:30 and the bus is available to take you back to the high school.  Early dismissal will not be in effect on October 12th for juniors and all 10th and 11th grade students are expected to participate in PSAT testing.  Your testing will take place on the second floor of the high school, and lists are posted outside classroom doors.  11th grade students will test in the foreign language and English wings.  10th grade students will test in the social studies and English wings.   Check ahead of time to find the correct location.  If you have questions ask a teacher or check with the counseling office, the main office or the library.

Seniors

All seniors are reminded that on Wednesday, October 12th you will be dismissed from classes at Brunswick High School at 10:40.  Students who attend a morning vocational program will be dismissed from Region 10 at 10:30 and bus transportation will be available back to the high school. A Brunswick bus will pick up only those 12th grade students who requested transportation prior to October 8th at the front of the building at 11:05. 12th grade students from Durham will not have bus transportation until 2:10.  If you are a Durham student and plan to ride the bus, you should report to the library at 11:05.  Please bring homework or reading material.  All 12th grade students are encouraged to pursue community service activities in the afternoon.
