All About Me

IMG_0402Bio

I am really excited about teaching first grade again this year! I have been working with children since the early 1980’s. This wonderful journey has provided me with many amazing opportunities and life lessons along the way. My experience ranges from being a Special Education teacher, to a classroom teacher, to a Reading Recovery teacher, and Literacy Specialist. I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Maine at Farmington in Elementary and Special Education and my graduate degrees at the University of New England and University of Southern Maine. I live in Brunswick with my husband, Tim, and our son, Cullen. In my spare time I like to read children’s literature.  I also enjoy working in my garden, going to camp, volunteering in the community, and watching my family play sports. My goals as an educator are to meet the individual and group needs of my students in ways that support and challenge them in order to foster the greatest intellectual, social, and emotional growth.  I also strive to create a safe and caring team-oriented community where all people feel acceptance and belonging.

This is ME when I was in 1st grade!
