Jazz All State Auditions
Jazz All State Auditions are Friday, October 13th at UMaine Augusta. The bus will depart BHS at 7:15 a.m on Friday and should return by 11 a.m. Students are expected to be dressed up (shirt, tie, dress pants, etc) for their audition. I will be sending home a permission slip this week with students for Jazz all State.
Our next football performance is FRIDAY THE 13th! Students should be prepared to leave the band room by 6:00 p.m. Our first outing was very successful and I am so proud of all of our students. Let’s keep up the incredible work!!!
Next Wednesday and Thursday, Mrs. Thibeault would like to have jazz students arrive at 5:30 for pictures to use in the program for “A night of Swing and Jazz”. All students must be in concert attire at 5:30.
Concert Attire for jazz:
Men – Black suit, white dress shirt, solid color tie (your choice of colors), black dress socks and shoes
Ladies – Black Dress or Black skirt, black stockings, black dress shoes, black shirt
Those are all the calendar items for the next week or so.
The deadline for signing up for all state auditions is THIS Friday! The sign up sheet is outside the music room door. Please encourage your son or daughter to sign up if they haven’t already.
I also wanted to put in another plug for some private instruction. As the fall has gotten going, many of our students have begun working with a private instructor and the results have been incredible. Here is an updated list of teachers in our area:

Apparently, Formal fashions is charging an exorbitant amount of money for shipping. If you are not comfortable with the cost, please send your order to me with a check stapled to it (made payable to BHS Music) and I will place the order. Please add a few dollars to help offset the cost of shipping.
Just a quick reminder, the new BHS Music Department website is: www.brunswick.k12.me.us/music
Click on this link : http://www.brunswick.k12.me.us/music/bands/ and scroll for the instrument that your son or daughter plays. Please make sure they have the required items by Friday. (the flipbook and lyre are the most critical) For percussionists, sticks are needed!
Please feel free to “like” the Brunswick High School Music Boosters page. There are a lot of announcements that are placed there. If you aren’t into social media, no worries!
I believe that is all I have for this week! I hope you are all well. Enjoy this beautiful stretch of weather!
Have a great day. Thank you for all you do to support our students in the music department. I am very thankful for each and every one of them.
