Weekly Home Reading Chart

Weekly Home Reading

To strengthen and communicate reading habits.

Expectations:

  • To read at least 100 minutes every week.
  • How students divide up the time they read for the week is entirely up to them, as long as they are striving to read 100 minutes by Friday.
  • Every day does not have to be filled out to meet the expectation.
  • Two choices for written reflection are included on the log sheet.
  • There is a chart of expectations on the back of every WHR sheet used for assessing the outcome of the recording and reflecting.
  • Minutes of reading are used at the end of every trimester for averaging class results and graphing.
  • Minutes are increased every trimester.
  • Weekend Home Reading recording is a ½ page sheet.  It requires a parent signature and at least 50 minutes read for bonus pay to deposit into a student’s classroom saving’s account.
