Homework

Your child’s assignment notebook (ANB) is the best place to check for nightly homework.  Each school day, as a class, we will fill in our assignment notebooks.

Special Projects will be assigned periodically throughout the school year.

Math homework will be given usually daily by your child’s math teacher and will be written in the ANB.

Weekly Reading Homework: I ask that students read for at least 30 minutes a night, and write a quick response based on that night’s reading. Student responses will be based on five of the comprehension strategies that we will practice in class: Summarize, Make a Prediction, Make a Connection, Visualize, and Ask Questions. A reference sheet is also provided to help students complete their reading responses. Each Monday, students will receive a new Weekly Reading Homework handout and this will be due each Friday.  I encourage students to keep a copy of the reference sheet in their homework folder and their in-class literacy folder to refer back to throughout the year. *Students do receive a grade for this nightly reading on their report card each trimester.*
