GREAT EAST UPDATE
Good morning. Most of you should have received the email about our concert this month on March 31. We will be performing in the BJH gym at 7:00pm with the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Choir, and Jazz Band. Performance attire for this concert is all-black.
In the next few weeks, I will be sharing information about our Great East Festival that is scheduled for Friday, May 22. Because this is an extra-curricular, all students need to be passing their classes to be eligible for this trip.
We are also limited on this trip with seats on our bus. We will be taking coach busses again this year. This allows us approximately 50 seats for Advanced Choir. (Wind Ensemble also goes on this trip as well as chaperones.) Because of this limitation, not all students in Advanced Choir will be able to attend this trip. When everyone is present, we have 72 students on our roster.
The students have known since the beginning of the year that this was the case. I will be auditioning students at the beginning of April. I will be looking at:
Vocal Score – 85%. Students will be scored on their pitch, rhythm, vocal quality. (I will use the District 3 scoring Rubric for this score.)
Ensemble Needs – 5%. We cannot attend our baseball game with 17 pitchers and no one in the outfield. I will need to take a balanced ensemble to this festival that includes voices that will fill every part.
Rehearsal Focus – 5%. Students will be scored on their engagement and focus during rehearsal.
Attendance – 5%. Students will be scored on their attendance to rehearsals and concerts. (And I am sensitive to the fact that we had the worst flu epidemic we have ever had this year!)
The list of students attending will be available before April vacation. All students are welcome to continue attending until rehearsals until the end of the year. Please respond if you have any questions.

TIME TO GET STARTED!
Our first rehearsal for Advanced Choir 2019-2020 will be on Tuesday, September 17 at 7:10AM. Students should plan to arrive between 7:00AM and 7:05AM so they are ready to being on time. There is no audition required for this choir, but students must commit to rehearsals on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Please see our calendar for performances dates and times. This group is open to all interested 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.

Advanced Choir Concert – Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 7:00PM. Come celebrate Music In Our Schools Month!
Advanced choir will begin on Tuesday, September 18 at 7:10AM in the chorus room. Students should plan to be ready to sing at that time. There are no auditions, but attendance at rehearsal is mandatory. This is for students in grades 6, 7, and 8.
