Honors Geometry

                                    HONORS GEOMETRY 2017

Congratulations on selecting Honors Geometry.  This is a challenging math class designed to introduce topics in geometry, and to prepare you for further studies in mathematics.

Honors classes incorporate weighted grades in calculating your class rank.  The Honors designation therefore requires more time and effort from you as a student.

You will be expected check all answers to odd numbered problems.  Please see me with questions before class if possible.

You need to have a calculator.  A graphing calculator is not required, but at the minimum you should have a scientific calculator that has the basic trig functions.  There are a limited number of calculators available for check out from the library.

On homework assignments, you are expected to show all work in a clear, organized fashion.  This includes writing the problem and sketching any figure associated with the problem.  Write the section number, the problem numbers and date on each assignment as well.  All homework assignments can be found at my school web page.

On assessments, I give as much partial credit as possible, and can only do this if I can follow your work, so please be as neat as possible.

Assessments will be timed.  If you feel that you need more time, simply write a note on top of your paper that you need more, and make arrangements with me after class to finish the assessment.

You may retake any test, provided you have completed the “Request to Retest” form and associated work.  Any make-up must be done within one week from the initial test.  I will use the average of the two grades.

Homework will be checked daily for completeness, and graded with a 1 or a 0.  Late homework will not be accepted, unless you have been absent

Ninth grade students will also be evaluated based on the school’s proficiency standards for Geometry.  The recording of these scores in independent from your numerical grade in the class.  You may re-do proficiency assessments up to “meeting the standard” by following the request to retest procedure.

I am here by 7:00 every day, and am also available after school.  Please see me if you need extra help or have any questions or concerns.  You can also email me at:
