Homework Planner Tips
- Make sure you have your name and a teacher’s name in case it is misplaced
- Use a binder clip to find you place easily and keep a pen in the binder
- Have a few phone numbers of students in the back of your planner in case you have questions about homework at night
- Color code for orange and black days at least a week in advance
- Write in holidays, early release days, special events and end of quarters
- Make sure you write down complete instructions for assignments and due dates (if no hand-out)
- You may need to write down assignments on the day they are assigned and the day they are due to plan your study time
- Write down assignments right when they are assigned during class
- Write “none” in block when there is no homework assigned
- Write down parts of long term projects that need to be completed during the week
- Keep track of all your activities in your planner, not just school related activities
- Review each morning to plan your day and at the end of the day so you know what books to bring home
- Write down your weekly goals as well
- Check off completed assignments
- Tape your schedule in your planner
- Review Sunday night to plan for the week and go over with your parents
- Bring every day and keep accessible!
