What if your eyes were at such a distance from your head that you could actually see your whole body?  “Take a good look at yourself” would take on a whole new meaning.  Humans can see themselves with the use of a  camera or in a mirror.  The stalk-eyed fly however, can see itself without these devices. 

Their eyes are at the end of long stalks (long compared to their body) that come from the head.  Maybe this body design seems weird, but it is only one example of the really fascinating, often bizarre designs in the world of insects – one of the smallest organisms on the planet.
