Cap, gown and diploma information

Graduation information sheets were distributed in the Senior class meeting on Thursday, November 8th.    Please see Ms. Wight in the Counseling Office for this sheet if you were not in attendance at the class meeting.  

Graduation cap, gown and tassel packets are ordered for every senior at Brunswick High School based on the information provided by each student on the information sheet.  The fee for the cap, gown and tassel is $30.00. If only a tassel is needed the cost is $12.  Checks should be made payable to Brunswick High School and given to Ms. Wight in the Counseling Office by February 28th.   

If you choose not to participate in the graduation ceremony, please let Ms. Wight know as soon as possible.

Master of Ceremonies for Graduation

The Master of Ceremonies role is filled by a senior class member.  The responsibilities for this role include a short welcome, the introduction of the Valedictorian and Salutatorian, the introduction of the musical number, the introduction of the Superintendent and a short farewell.

Any senior interested in applying for the Master of Ceremonies role at graduation should submit a letter of interest and 1 teacher recommendation to Mr. Henninger by April 1. Materials will be reviewed and a selection made shortly thereafter.

Senior Survey

The Senior Survey must be completed prior to receiving a cap and gown.  The link will be made available by the end of May. 

Marching Practice Information

All students participating in Graduation MUST attend all marching practices. 

The first marching practice will take place on Wednesday, June 5 from 9:00 – 12:00 in Crooker Theater.   Students will be matched with their marching partner, see the lineup order and the seating order.  All diploma names will be read aloud so any discrepancies can be corrected. Students will have their first introduction to marching to the Pomp and Circumstance music. 

Caps and gowns will be distributed after the first day of marching practice ONLY if full payment is received and no fees/books/equipment, senior survey, etc are outstanding.    

The second marching practice will take place on Friday, June 7 from 9:00 – 12:00 at Watson Arena, Bowdoin College.   We will run through the entire graduation program.  Students will be lined up on the appropriate side of the arena, will march in to Pomp and Circumstance and file in to their seats in front of the stage. Students will practice standing and sitting as a group directed by the marshals.  All names will be read aloud and students will file up to the stage to practice receiving their diploma.  Students will practice filing out at the end of the ceremony.

Speakers will have a sound check and practice their speeches after the student body is released from practice. 

Request for Handicapped seating at Graduation

Seating will be provided on the floor level for wheelchair bound or physically disabled guests.  If you or a member of your family needs this accommodation please contact Patty Farnsworth at,  (207) 319-1910 x2002 or Kate Wight at,  (207) 319-1910 x2013 before June 1st.  This will ensure enough spaces are provided.  Unfortunately, due to space limitations, these seats are for the affected individual and onefamily member only; not the entire family.

Parking Information

Parking at Watson Arena fills up very quickly.  Carpooling is highly encouraged.  Once the parking lot is full it will be closed to all incoming traffic so as not to back up traffic onto Harpswell Rd.  Please plan accordingly.  If your family has a need for a handicapped accessible spot, or if you need to drop someone off to avoid walking, please plan to arrive as early as possible.

Shuttle Bus Information

We will run a shuttle bus from the high school to help alleviate some of the parking issues at Watson Arena.  Shuttles will start running at 5:00 p.m. and run every 15 minutes.  Return trips to the high school will begin shortly after the ceremony and run every 15 minutes until 9:00 p.m.

Commencement Picture Information

Commencement photos will be taken by Hockmeyer Studios, Inc.  Each student will be photographed as they receive their diploma.  To access the photos, go to  The PIN number is GRAD2019.
