BHS General Announcements:
The University of Maine Singers will be performing an assembly today in Crooker Theater during block ¾! All classes and study halls are invited to join us! The Singers are the UMaine’s Premier Vocal ensemble, and they will be performing a wide variety of music from classical to top 40 hits. The assembly will also feature performances by the Maine Steiners and UMaine Renaissance – the school’s top a cappella groups. There is sure to be something for everyone! Come support the Singers, and Brunswick High School alum Dylan Robinson – who is currently performing in the group. The assembly will run 50 minutes – all of block ¾! We hope to see you there!
Don’t miss the BHS Players spring Musical Mamma Mia! Shows are this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. with Matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00. The American Go Honor Society School Team Tournament will be happening Sunday, April 7th, and Sunday, April 14th. Brunswick Go club would like to have as much representation as possible. If you are interested in participating, please talk with Mr. Goldstone before the end of this week. Go Club will be having its normal meeting after school this Thursday.
Sophomores, don’t forget to go to Bolos today to raise money for your class. Why not head over there for lunch since it is a half day? If you can’t eat in, order some food and pick it up to eat at home! We get a percentage of all purchases for the day. See you there!

All are invited to attend the Brunswick All Town Student Art Show in the Morrell Meeting Room at Curtis Memorial library. In celebration of Youth Art Month an exhibition of art work from students at Coffin School, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Brunswick Junior High and Brunswick High School will be on display for the month of March.
The Freeport High School Guidance Department invites area students and families to A Night with Bill Smith: Understanding College Financial Aid and Paying for College on Thursday, March 21st, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the Freeport High School Performing Arts Center. Bill Smith’s presentation takes the mystery out of financial aid and college cost for students and parents. Learn about the different types of financial aid and how to choose a college you can afford. Understanding financial aid enables you to make good college choices and informed decisions to manage college costs. We’ll discuss how to identify your student’s need and merit profile and learn how to match that with college awarding policies so you can identify affordable colleges. If you’re a junior, don’t miss your chance to take the practice Math part of the SAT before the actual test date! The Math department will be offering a Practice Math SAT at 12:15 today. To sign up, just add your name on the form just inside Mrs. Dolan’s door (Room 102). The prep session should be done before 2:00 p.m.

Seniors: Your Senior Class Trip to Six Flags New England takes place on June 6th, the day before graduation! Trip forms, along with the $30 park fee, are due in the Main Office by Friday, March 22nd. Checks may be made payable to “BHS Class of 2019”. Please turn in the trip form and payment in an envelope to the Main Office. Financial scholarships are available. The Environmental Club is hosting a trip by bus to tour Eco-Maine from 12:15 to 3:45 today for any students and staff members who would like to tour its facilities. Come observe and learn how the single stream recycling system works to sort the different recycled materials and also how a waste-to-energy plant is run. Please See Mr. Hutchinson or Mr. Stocker to sign up and get a permission slip for the Eco-Maine tour.
Sign up today for Youth Mental Health First Aid training happening Wednesday, May 8th, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at BHS. Learn how to support a friend or classmate and learn when to be concerned, and what local help is available. You must be 16 or older to participate. Receive service hours and free lunch! Auditions will be taking place for next year’s Chamber Choir and Treble Choir on Monday, March 25th, through Wednesday, March 27th! Sign-ups for auditions can be found on the door of the Music Room! There is no pre-requisite for the audition – anyone interested in singing in one of these two groups is encouraged to audition, regardless of prior experience! If you are interested in being a part of the BHS Choral Program, and you do not want to go through the audition process, simply sign up for Concert Choir on your course registration form! Maine Nephrology organizes a 5K each spring to draw attention to kidney health and raise funds to help dialysis patients. Here’s a chance for students to earn 4 hours of community service by helping with their 5K race on Sunday, May 5th from 8 a.m. to noon. It’s a fun event and the volunteer roles include jobs like helping with registration, handing out water, cheering younger kids on in the 100 yard “Fun Run”, and picking up at the end of the event. It is not too early to get your Big Brothers Big Sisters Team together for the annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event on April 26th at Yankee Lanes! Sign up in Mr. Wilson’s office and help a great organization while having fun and earning service hours!

Artery has open studio time every Tuesday from 2:15 to 4:00 p.m. All levels of artists are invited to Room 114 for an afternoon of artistic growth, and exploration. Materials and instruction are available for all types of art, so come on down and get creative!

Attention Junior Shellfish Harvesters: New requirements are in place in order for you to apply for your license. New student harvesters need to participate in a two-hour training that will be offered in April at the Brunswick Town Council Chambers located within the Brunswick Town Office at 85 Union Street in Brunswick. The two-hour training will take place on Wednesday, April, 3 at 5:30 PM or Wednesday, April, 17th at 3:00 PM. Student harvesters who have already had licenses are required to attend two meetings related to the local shellfishing industry. Many of These meetings occur on the first Wednesday every month at 7:00 PM at the Brunswick Town Council Chambers located in the Brunswick Town Office. See Mr. Wilson with any questions.
