BHS General Announcements:
Are you a junior? Would you like to take a run at the Math part of the SAT before the actual test date? Then listen up! The Math Department will be offering a Practice Math SAT at 12:15 on the early release day, Wednesday, March 20th. To sign up, simply put your name on the form just inside Mrs. Dolan’s door (Room 102). If all goes smoothly, we’ll be done before 2:00 p.m. and you’ll walk out the door with a GREAT prep experience behind you and a corrected test in your hands!
An exciting new course is being offered at BHS next year open to Juniors and Seniors called AP Seminar. AP Seminar is an interdisciplinary course, with a very flexible curriculum, in which students will be able to explore their own interests using many different academic lenses through two long research projects. and will be open to juniors and seniors. The course has been endorsed by colleges across the country, many which grant credit for qualifying scores. See your guidance counselor or Mr. Goldstone in Room 115 to learn more.
Seniors: Your Senior Class Trip to Six Flags New England takes place on June 6th, the day before graduation! Trip forms, along with the $30 park fee, are due in the Main Office by Friday, March 22nd. Checks may be made payable to “BHS Class of 2019”. Please turn in the trip form and payment in an envelope to the Main Office. Financial scholarships are available. The Brunswick High School Environmental Club is hosting a field trip by bus to Eco-Maine on Wednesday, March 20th (an Early Release Day), for any students and staff members who would like to tour its facilities. We will observe and learn how the single stream recycling system works to sort the different recycled materials and also how a waste-to-energy plant is run. Any member of the BHS faculty is welcome to attend from approximately 12:15 to 3:45 next Wednesday. Please See Mr. Stocker in Room 232 to sign up and get a permission slip for the Eco-Maine tour.
Sign up today for Youth Mental Health First Aid training happening Wednesday, May 8th, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at BHS. Learn how to support a friend or classmate and learn when to be concerned, and what local help is available. You must be 16 or older to participate. Receive service hours and free lunch! Sign up with Mr. Wilson or Mrs. Kunhardt.
Auditions will be taking place for next year’s Chamber Choir and Treble Choir on Monday, March 25th, through Wednesday, March 27th! Sign-ups for auditions can be found on the door of the Music Room! There is no pre-requisite for the audition – anyone interested in singing in one of these two groups is encouraged to audition, regardless of prior experience! If you are interested in being a part of the BHS Choral Program, and you do not want to go through the audition process, simply sign up for Concert Choir on your course registration form! As always, if you have any questions, please see Mrs. Albert, or touch base with any current member of the group! Flyers with audition information can be picked up in the Music Room, or from your Flex Teacher on Thursday! Hope to see you at auditions!
Any senior interested in being the Master of Ceremonies at Graduation should submit a letter of interest and 1 teacher recommendation to Principal Henninger.
All students taking an AP exam must pay their exam fees to Ms. Wight in the Counseling Office by March 18th. Anyone who does not pay by this deadline will be unable to take the exam. Any questions or concerns about the exams should be directed to Ms. Jeppson in Room 248.
Attention Junior Shellfish Harvesters: New requirements are in place in order for you to apply for your license. New student harvesters need to participate in a two-hour training that will be offered in April at the Brunswick Town Council Chambers located within the Brunswick Town Office at 85 Union Street in Brunswick. The two-hour training will take place on Wednesday, April, 3 at 5:30 PM or Wednesday, April, 17th at 3:00 PM. Student harvesters who have already had licenses are required to attend two meetings related to the local shellfishing industry. Many of These meetings occur on the first Wednesday every month at 7:00 PM at the Brunswick Town Council Chambers located in the Brunswick Town Office. See Mr. Wilson with any questions.

Sports Announcements in from the Coaches:
If you missed the Track sign-ups, see Mr. Dearing for a schedule and details for the upcoming season. The first Outdoor Track practice will be Monday, March 25th, rain or shine.
All winter athletes need to stop by Mr. Ramich’s office to pick up the end-of-the-season survey, if you haven’t done so already. This includes Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Hockey, Boys and Girls Indoor Track, Boys and Girls Swimming, Cheering, Alpine and Nordic Skiing and Wrestling.
Attention all potential Boys Lacrosse players: Just a reminder that all your required paperwork is due to Mr. Glover by Thursday, March 21st. Extra copies of all Green sheets are on the Boys Lacrosse Board outside Room 108. See Coach Glover with any questions.
BHS Spring Athletes:
Please see Mrs. Maines to transfer your athletic forms
from your winter sport to your spring sport. No forms, no tryouts/practices. If you haven’t yet played a sport at BHS, you need to see Mrs. Maines for all the athletic forms. You can also find the forms on the high school athletic website http://www.bhsdragons.com
. If you don’t have these completed and approved by Mrs. Maines, you will not be allowed to tryout/practice. Baseball and softball arm conditioning in the Gym starts on March 18th, with softball from 2:30-4:00 and baseball from 4:00-5:30. Spring practices start on March 25th…Stay tuned for the schedule.

Artery has open studio time every Tuesday from 2:15 to 4:00 p.m. All levels of artists are invited to Room 114 for an afternoon of artistic growth, and exploration. Materials and instruction are available for all types of art, so come on down and get creative!
Go Club meets Thursdays in Mr. Goldstone’s room, Room 115. Go is an ancient Chinese board game, played by more than 40 million people worldwide. All are welcome to come learn to play or join the team!

Pride, Brunswick High School’s Gay Straight Transgender Alliance meets Thursdays during Flex in Room 118. The goal of the Gay Straight Transgender Alliance is to provide a safe, supportive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and straight ally youth to meet and discuss issues of concern, and to work to foster a school environment free of discrimination, harassment, and intolerance; all are welcome. The Freeport High School Guidance Department invites area students and families to A Night with Bill Smith: Understanding College Financial Aid and Paying for College
on Thursday, March 21st, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the Freeport High School Performing Arts Center. Bill Smith’s presentation takes the mystery out of financial aid and college cost for students and parents. Learn about the different types of financial aid and how to choose a college you can afford. Understanding financial aid enables you to make good college choices and informed decisions to manage college costs. We’ll discuss how to identify your student’s need and merit profile and learn how to match that with college awarding policies so you can identify affordable colleges.
