Both the Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams won their games against Mt. Ararat at home last night. Way to go Dragons!
In Girls Hockey last night, our Dragons fought hard against Biddeford/Thornton/Wells in a 4-2 defeat. Nadia Leiner stopped 26 shots while Beth Labbe had two goals. Playing great defense against the 3 schools include Shea Sullivan, Madeline Berry, and Colleen McKearney.
The Boys Hockey Team hit the ice last night at Watson Arena for their much anticipated home opener against the Cony Rams. The first period saw the boys go down 1-0 midway through the period. However, resiliency so far has been a hallmark of this team as they battled back and tied the score towards the end of the period on a timely goal by Michael Eno, assisted by Jacob Doring. The second period was back and forth action as neither team scored to leave the game knotted at 1-1. The third period has proven to be the Dragons period this year as they once again dominated the final frame. Jacob Doring opened up the onslaught with an unassisted goal. The Dragons then found themselves down a man for an extended period of time but once again the boys came through with shorthanded goals by Mr. Shorty himself, Jared Hummer, assisted by Doring, as well as a shorthanded goal by Jack St. Pierre assisted by Michael Deveaux. Our senior tendy, Riley Kirk, once again provided solid defense in stopping 16 of 17 shots faced. The boys look to keep it going tomorrow night at home vs. Mt. Ararat. at Watson arena 7 pm game time. Come out and show MTA how loud Brunswick can get! See you there!

The Maine Youth Action Network is recruiting high school students to be part of its Youth Policy Board. This Youth Policy Board will bring together high school students from different towns to work on issues they feel are most important. They will research the issues, brainstorm solutions, and present their recommendations to local decision makers. This group is a great way to develop leadership and public speaking skills, as well as make new friends, and go on some fun outings! The group will meet one night a week, and one Saturday a month, from January through June (location TBD). Food will be provided, and transportation can be arranged. We will be hosting an Information Session on Wednesday, January 3rd, at 5:30 p.m. at 50 Lydia Lane, South Portland. See your counselor in the Counseling Office for more information. For more information about the Cumberland County Youth Policy Board, contact Chelsea Mancini at email@example.com or call 207-553-5920.
